Care is Like Water My work with care has spanned half a century. Care is essential to life on the planet. If we can begin to appreciate and be inspired by how care works in support of life, then perhaps we will listen to the wisdom of those who care for us and learn how to care for Our Mother, Earth.

Sweet Honey In The Rock - Sylvie - 1990 - Sydney
Listen to Sweet Honey sing this beautiful old folk song about care around the world. As yesterday's post showed, women and children around the world are responsible for providing water to their families. When we speak of care as women's work we refer to these universal cultural elements. "Bringing water once in a while" is one such task.

Beautiful, Sweet Honey in the Rock. Care is Like Water, such a flowing metaphor and practical. It's that 'every once in awhile' that I love as I watch these women and feel their message. Constant water will wash anything/anyone way. Water allows for other experiences in between: being, observing, carrying and noting the effects of ones' place in the whole for example.
